Instructions for poster authors

American Association of Zoo Veterinarians Annual Conference 2007
Nutrition Advisory Group Conference 2007

Introduction
The combined AAZV and NAG poster session allows participants to engage the author in a more detailed discussion rather than a brief oral presentation. The poster should communicate your message as simply as possible. Avoid cluttering the poster with too much detail. The poster should be prepared so that the material illustrates the main feature of your paper. The use of graphical illustrations and restricted descriptive materials are some suggestions.

Schedule
Time and location for the poster setup will be determined just prior to the conference. You will be informed before the conference start date as to when you can set up your poster. Typically, this occurs the afternoon/evening prior to the start of the formal conference.

Poster Dimensions

Maximum poster dimensions allowed are 122 cm (4 feet) in height by 244 cm (8 feet) in length. Posters exceeding these dimensions cannot be accommodated in the session.

Physical Facilities
Flat corkboard easels will be provided. Please bring pushpins or Velcro tape to fix your poster to the board.

Poster Layout
When planning your poster please consider the following points:

1. Why is the topic significant?

2. Cite interesting or unusual aspects or results

3. Give the highlights of your paper

4. Use the author guidelines previously provided

The text lettering should be large enough so that one can read at a viewing distance of about one meter. The smallest letter size should be at least 5 mm tall or more. The layout should be clear and logical. The basic rule in preparing your posters should be: Bold and Simple. Remember to use fonts and color backgrounds that enhance, not clutter, your poster’s organization. A sample layout could include the following:

1. Title

2. Short statement of problem investigation and approach used in investigation

3. Pertinent information/Data/Graphs/Pictures

4. Pertinent information/Data/Graphs/Pictures

5, Pertinent information/Data/Graphs/Pictures

6. Short statement of conclusion
