NAG Subcommittees

The NAG has eight active subcommittees. Each subcommittee has a facilitator responsible for coordination and leadership. Facilitators are required to submit an annual report to the EC which documents the subcommittee members, three year plan and accomplishments. The eight subcommittees are as follows:

Conference Subcommittee

The 2001 NAG Conference will be held in Orlando, FL in conjunction with the annual conference of the AAZV. The 1999 NAG Conference was held in Columbus Ohio in conjunction with the annual conference of the AAZV. The conference was deemed a success by the group, it was attended by over 80 delegates. Proceedings from the conference are available upon request.

Critical Care/Clinical Nutrition
Prepare three guide sheets for use by AZA institutions.. Areas of emphasis for the year 2000 are Cachexia, Diabetes and Obesity.

Food Use and Behavioral Enrichment

Complete a literature search on the positive and negative impact of "Enrichment Foods"

Food Composition

Identify centers to house data sets, curators/managers of data, and hopefully present demonstrations of its utility at CBSG annual meeting. NSF grant proposal submitted (June 2000). This subcommittee was formed as a working group at the CBSG meeting in Pretoria.

Infant Diet and Hand-rearing Notebook

The projected completion date for the Notebook is late 2001. Funding to support, in part, production and printing of the Notebook has been received, preliminary surveys have been summarized and compiled in a dynamic database for use by chapter authors and a sample chapter has been generated for use as a guide by authors.

Nominating Subcommittee

Process all applications for membership.  Oversee the election of the Steering Committee by the general membership.  Maintain current contact information for members.

Technical Papers

Publish 4 new Fact Sheets or updates of previous Fact Sheets

Web Site

Prepare web site budget, select and register domain name, establish links to appropriate web sites, publish information deemed appropriate by the SC.
